Every organization, small or large, should have a Technology Roadmap. The Technology Roadmap lets you know where you’ve been, and where you’re heading in the future. And it should be a in 1 page graphical format so it’s quick and easy for your executives and managers to see.
It should be broken down by timeframe (Already Completed, 0-3 Months, 3-6 Months, 6-9 Months, and 9-12 Months) so you have a picture of the full year. And it should include categories such as Business Growth, Consolidation/Efficiency, User Experience, Equipment/Software Age, Security & Compliance, and Backups & Disaster Recovery. You can further break it down by specifying areas such as hardware, software, professional services, change management, cloud enablement, and maintenance.
